Spooky Tuesday’s Holiday Episodes!
Missing us while we are away? Check out some of the holiday episodes we have done in seasons past!
Don’t worry, we will be back to weekly episodes on Tuesday, January 13th!
Season 1, Episode # 12: Gremlins (1984): "Big Pain, Much Suffering"
Did anyone else mistakenly remember Gremlins (1984) as a sweet movie about little monsters at Christmas time? Yeah, that is...not that. One our latest episode of Spooky Tuesday, we're talking about the king, the legend, the adorable little creature who inspired Furbies, Baby Yoda, and Vin Diesel himself: Gizmo. Oh, and we're talking about his creepy reptile cousins, too. Come for the holiday spirit, but stay for the hot takes on cultural appropriation.

Season 1, Episode 13: Black Christmas (1974): "Like A Tuna Farm, Baby"
What more could you want for Christmas than a stunningly spooky tale of stranger danger at a sorority house? This week, we're taking on the original Black Christmas (1974), a decadent film full of badass girls, fabulous fur coats, and what may or may not be the first canonically bisexual character in Spooky Tuesday history (well, other than the Babadook).

Season 1, Episode 14: Better Watch Out (2016): "Eat Shit, Incels"
What happens when the Home Alone kid grows up and gets interested in girls — or at least one girl in particular? This Spooky Tuesday, we're tackling Better Watch Out (2016), the film that takes Kevin McCallister's childish hijinks and turns them into preteen predatory behaviors. Without getting too spoilery right off the bat, all we can say in that this is a movie that slaps you in the face about 30 minutes in — and then it just keeps spinning out of control.

Season 2, Episode 63: Anna and the Apocalypse (2017): "Ain't No Hollywood Ending"
You already know that all of us Spooky Tuesday cuties have impeccable, perfect, polished singing voices — so it’s no surprise that we were excited to take on our first musical. Anna and the Apocalypse (2017) is a zombie Christmas movie packed full of original songs, pop culture references, and characters who don’t yet realize they’re queer (but don’t worry, we’re ready to help them get there). It’s also one of the rare apocalypse settings we’d actually entertain the notion of fighting for, and we’re explaining why on our new episode.

Season 2, Episode 64: Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984): "Diverstitty"
We gotta say, Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984) really lives up to its title as a video nasty. Pulled from theaters when it first came out because it dared to ask the question, “What if Santa but bad,” this ‘80s horror flick became something of a cult classic based solely on the fact that it was hard to see — like, literally hard to track down and watch back when streaming services and websites were barely even a twinkle in Al Gore’s eye. If you ask us here at Spooky Tuesday, though, “evil Santa” was a total red (and green) herring for the actually disturbing on-screen deaths. On our second (and last) Christmas episode of the season, we’re talking about what worked for us, who changed their tune about this movie, and why diverstitties are so important.

Season 3, Episode 116: Santa Jaws (2018): "A Win For Feminism"
Chelsea may be our resident Sharky TuesWeek enthusiast, but when it comes to getting in the holiday spirit, Sydney was the one bringing Santa Jaws (2018) to the table. On our latest episode of Spooky Tuesday, we picked a Christmas flick that takes a more, uh, creative approach to celebrating the season. Combining the monster movie genre with a magical object moment, this female-directed film dares to ask the question, “What happens when you give a great white a love of both Christmas ornaments and feasting on human flesh?”

Season 4, Episode 166: Santa's Slay (2005): "ChestNUTS and Jingle BALLS"
If what you wanted for Christmas was a whole bunch of jokes about male genitalia, well, you must've been a very good little Spooky this year! For our latest installment of B-cember — and our last episode of Spooky Tuesday until 2024 — we decided to spice up the season with Santa's Slay (2005), a holiday horror featuring wrestling star Goldberg as Jolly Old Saint Nick. Take a look under the tree and you'll find a flick full of all three grindhouse Gs, enough innuendo to kill a flying bison, and more than a few familiar faces. There's no better way to celebrate, so join us as we close out the year with a Father Christmas who could clothesline Mannheim and his signature Steamroller move with ease.

Season 5, Episode 215: The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993): “Christmas Isn’t A Phase, Mom!”
Any goth kid, past or present, could tell you this truth: The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) pretty much IS the reason for the season. It's the perfect transition movie from Halloween to the holidays, and from September to January, there's no wrong time to watch (or even year-round if you're a true Hot Topic aficionado). For many, this flick has enough nostalgia factor to earn it a permanent place on the annual lineup... and then maybe there are also a few people who are less enthusiastic. On the latest episode of Spooky Tuesday, we're living like Jack and Sally as we dress up, sing along, and make sure some of us don't poop the party TOO much.

Season 5, Episode 216: When Harry Met Sally… (1989): “Fake Orgasm in the First 2 Mins”
A new year is right around the corner, Spookies, and you're going to want to start it off right. That's why we're ending our 2024 by watching quite possibly the *best* New Year's Eve movie of all time. For our December Fifth Tuesday, we're cuddling up for a cozy night in with When Harry Met Sally... (1989), a romcom that truly nails both the rom and the com. That seems to be a rare feat in our modern age, which is why we're manifesting more yearning and naked affection in cinema for 2025. Join us as we set that intention and celebrate a classic on our latest episode of Spooky Tuesday.
